Assad Abdulla

Assad joined Signia’s Investment Team in November 2014 as a Senior Portfolio Account Manager and is responsible for trading, structuring and managing clients’ portfolios.  Prior to Signia, Assad was the Head Trader at Matchpoint Investment Management.  He has also worked as a Trader at Modal Capital (Credit Suisse’s Internal Hedge Fund) and Credit Suisse’s Internal Proprietary Trading desk).  He began his career as an Analyst on the JPM Graduate Programme.

Assad has a BSc Hons in Economics from the University of Bristol.  Assad holds the Investment Management Certificate and is currently working towards his CFA qualification.

Ammalan Annalingam

Ammalan is Signia’s Chief Risk Officer and joined the firm in 2011 from Martello Capital Management, a structured credit asset management business. Prior to Martello, Ammalan worked at London Diversified Fund Management, a global macro hedge fund, where he risk managed products across various asset classes and helped develop the risk management methodologies, framework and reports.

He is a qualified accountant having trained at Ernst & Young working in their International Capital Markets Group and their Financial Risk Management Group. Ammalan is a member of the Product Approval Committee, the Operating Committee and the Asset Allocation Committee at Signia.

Ollie Barnett
Director, Head of Lending

Ollie is part of the Wealth Management team as a Client Director as well as heading-up the Lending and Debt-Structuring offering at Signia.  Ollie joined Signia from C Hoare & Co, where he was a Senior Relationship Manager in the banking department, specialising in credit for over 7 years and looking after a portfolio of HNW/UHNW clients.

He also helped run the Entrepreneurs’ Team at C Hoare & Co, leading on the hedge fund and alternative asset manager sector of the client base.  Prior to C Hoare & Co, Ollie spent 5 years in the Army (Scots Guards), which took him all over the world.  He has a degree in Economics from Newcastle University and is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Kate Cooper

Kate is a founding member of Signia and as Chief Compliance Officer is responsible for the firm’s Compliance framework. Kate joined Signia Wealth from HSBC Private Bank, where she was Head of Client Services for the UK and was responsible for ensuring clients were provided with a world class service.

Prior to HSBC, Kate spent 6 years at JPMorgan Private Bank working as an Analyst within the UK UHNW team, after which she joined Coutts to aid in establishing the Private Office servicing UHNW clients. Kate is a member of Signia’s Executive Committee and Product Approval Committee.

Tim Frost
Finance Director

Tim joined Signia in 2014 as Finance Director. He initiated his accountancy qualifications at the London office of Ernst & Young, working in their Investment Management Group. Following this, Tim spent 5 years with Nomura Code Securities, a boutique Investment Bank, as their Financial Controller in a broad-ranging role, including financial & management analysis, middle office & settlements and compliance.

Most recently Tim spent three years with UBS AG, in Sydney, managing a cross-divisional team covering a diverse spectrum of back-office finance requirements, including wealth management and investment banking product control, financial operations and logistics & costs. Tim is a member of the Executive Committee at Signia.

Richard Hanlon

Richard has been a Client Director within Signia’s Wealth Management team since its inception in 2010 when he joined from Coutts & Co, London. At Coutts he was a Private Banker within the London based International team focussing on UK resident non-domiciled individuals with an emphasis on tax efficient wealth structuring.

At Signia he continues to look after a number of UK resident non-domiciled and international clients as well as being responsible for the firm’s cash management service. Richard holds the certificate in Private Client Investment Advice & Management and is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. He read Law with French at the University of Glasgow.

Robert Lee
Executive Director

Robert joined Signia in 2010 as a portfolio manager and fixed income specialist, covering global fixed income and multi-asset class portfolios. Robert manages Signia’s Global Fixed Income Strategies and is a member of the Asset Allocation Committee.

Prior to joining Signia, Robert worked at Coutts & Co where he was a member of the Foreign Exchange and Fixed Income Selection Committee and spent four years managing global advisory and discretionary portfolios for Ultra High Net Worth clients. Robert holds a BSc Degree in Economics and Finance from Southampton University, is a CFA Charter holder, and is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Jin Lim

Jin joined Signia in 2014 as a Hedge Fund Analyst having completed an internship at the firm. Jin holds a BSc (Hons) Masters in Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics and Economics (MORSE) from University of Warwick in 2013 and MSc in Finance from Imperial College Business School in 2014. He is currently working towards his CFA qualifications.

Greg Malone
Head of Wealth Management

Greg is the Head of Wealth Management at Signia and was brought in at the start of 2015 as part of the firm’s new management team. Greg leads the wealth management business and is responsible for maintaining and developing the firm’s key client relationships. Greg originally joined Signia in 2010 and worked as part of the wealth management team before leaving to set up Squared Investments, an investment management company advising entrepreneurs and their families.

Having re-joined Signia in 2015, Greg has in-depth experience and expertise of advising across global-multi asset portfolios, including hedge funds and opportunistic investments in private equity.  Prior to 2010, Greg worked at Arbuthnot Latham as a private banker where he advised clients across their investments as well as sourcing credit.  He is a Chartered Fellow of the CISI and holds a BSc (Hons) in Economics and Econometrics from The University of Nottingham. Greg is a member of Signia’s Executive Committee and Product Approval Committee.

Chris Meurice
Associate Director

Chris joined Signia as an Investment Analyst in January 2013. His primary responsibility is in long-only fund selection.  He is responsible for populating the current funds approved list; providing fund recommendations from quantitative and qualitative analyses; and maintaining ongoing due diligence support for the current funds approved list. He is a graduate of the University of Cambridge where he studied at Corpus Christi College.

During and after his time at university, Chris completed internships at Signia and Greenhill gaining experience in Asset Management and Mergers & Acquisitions respectively. He holds the IMC, is a CFA charterholder, and an affiliate of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Kirin Ohbi
General Counsel

Kirin joined Signia in 2010 as General Counsel from Pinsent Masons (Formerly McGrigors LLP) where she trained and qualified as a solicitor in their corporate team in London. She has experience in a wide range of corporate and commercial matters including M&A, private equity and venture capital transactions including fund establishment and investment work. Prior to McGrigors Kirin worked as a paralegal with the M&A team at Freshfields. Kirin read Law (LLB) and thereafter completed a master’s degree in Corporate and Commercial Law (LLM) at University College London.  Kirin is a member of Signia’s Executive Committee and Product Approval Committee.

Michael Rosenthal
Chief Investment Officer, Head of Hedge Fund Investment

Michael has eighteen years of investment management experience and has managed assets across US, Europe, Japan and Asia Pacific. Michael joined Signia in 2013 from Amundi Alternative Asset Management, the hedge fund subsidiary of SocGen/Credit Agricole, where he was Global Co-Head of Investment and Head of the firm’s London office.

During Michael’s eleven year tenure at Amundi, hedge fund assets under management grew from $1.2 billion to $28 billion, with the business becoming one of the top five European hedge fund investors. Prior to Amundi, Michael spent five years at JPMorgan Investment Management where he was a Portfolio Manager managing Asian Equity portfolios and a Japan Long Short Equity Hedge Fund. Michael is a member of the Executive committee.

Gregoire Sharma

Grégoire joined Signia in 2014 as an Investment Assistant after working at BNP Paribas Investment Partners on their graduate programme with the fixed income boutique, Fisher Francis Trees & Watts.  Grégoire holds a MEng in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Imperial College and worked in the oil and gas industry for two and a half years before obtaining an MSc in Finance from EDHEC business school in 2012.  Grégoire is currently enrolled in the CFA level III programme.

Janet Tarbet

Janet Tarbet joined in 2013 as Signia’s Chief Operating Officer and manages all operations for the business with oversight of compliance, risk and finance functions. Prior to joining Janet was Director at Coutts & Co, where she provided wealth management services for a portfolio of high net worth clients in the Entrepreneur sector. During her 14 years at Coutts, she led successful teams of private bankers and held various senior management positions across the business.

She is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and is a qualified mortgage advisor.  Janet chairs Signia’s Operating Committee and is also a member of the Product Approval Committee.

Jie Zhang
Associate Director

Jie joined Signia in 2013 as a Senior Analyst and is responsible for long-only fund selection. Her primary responsibility is to populate the current funds approved list and provide fund recommendations. Prior to Signia, Jie spent three and half years at Morningstar in China where she initially worked as a data analyst and then moved into fund research, focusing on fund analysis in China and US markets.

Jie was also responsible for global fund industry research, and provided consultancy to Chinese financial regulatory authorities and local asset management firms. Prior to joining Morningstar, she worked at China Everbright Bank. Jie has an MSc in Money, Banking and Finance from Lancaster University and is a CFA charterholder.
